T56 Authorized Maintenance Certification (AMC)

This project involves granting of a full Authorised Maintenance Centre (AMC) status for T56 engine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul to Airod Techno Power (ATP) which is formerly known as Airod Turbopower. Through offset, the certification fee is reduced by almost 80% and had opened a window of opportunity to ATP to a market segment worth of billions ringgit. The certification has benefits on the following;

  Positioned ATP as one of the rightful AMCs in the Asian region for MRO for Rolls Royce T56/501 aircraft engines. The AMC approval was awarded to Airod Sdn Bhd while ATP was designated as Branch AMC to Airod.
  Positively contributed in terms of marketing and sales which has contributed RM 30 million to RM 35 million to the ATP's annual revenue.
  As the international sector, ATP/Airod were able to resurrect its bidding exercise to the existing customers such as Thailand, Indonesia, Yemen, etc. ATP/Airod is also able to bid long term contract to Oman Air Force and Kuwait Air Force. Many other international accomplishments follow after.

Aerospace Contract Manufacturing

It involves Rolls Royce providing assistance in securing aerospace manufacturing works to local parts and component manufacturers. This project has developed and enhanced local capability to push local manufacturers into the global supply chain. Rolls Royce has introduced Goodrich Aerostructures to Composite Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM) Sdn Bhd in 2003 as part of the offset programme for the Trent 900 engine purchase for Malaysia Airlines.

Through offset, the manufacturing works are secured by;

  Getting Rolls Royce sub-contractors to award work packages to an identified recipients
  Supporting the participation of Malaysian Composites Manufacturing companies in bidding composite work packages

  1. Rolls Royce introduced CTRM to Goodrich Aerostructures in 2003 - Goodrich visited CTRM in May 2003
  2. Goodrich was impressed with the capability shown on the agreed production of selected components and created a partnership. Goodrich Aerostructure later on has forwarded Request For Quotation (RFQ) document for the components
  3. Commercial discussion ensued and Goodrich awarded CTRM contracts for 5 components before end of 2003

The work packages have benefits on the following;

  CTRM was then awarded the best supplier by Goodrich in among 400 suppliers in 2006
  CTRM was awarded the Boeing 787 Nacelle Non acoustic component in late 2007
  Discussion on the Fan Cowls program started in 2008 and by August 2009, CTRM and Goodrich Aerostructures agrees to a program which will see CTRM becoming the Center of Excellence for Fan Cowls for programs below which estimated to be total value of RM 3.5 billion up till 2023 with annual revenue projected at RM 200 million:

  1. Boeing 787
  2. Airbus A350XWB
  3. Mitsubishi Regional Jet – GTF
  3. Bombardier C series – GTF
  CTRM was awarded the 'Excellent Supplier' by Goodrich in 2009
